Tasjan, 31, a folk-rock singer-songwriter and native of New Albany, Ohio, performed as an opening act for Billy Joe Shaver at White Water a couple of years ago. At age 11, he taught himself to play guitar by learning songs by Oasis. He formed a band named Semi Precious Weapons but left to become lead guitarist for the New York Dolls. After a stint with them, he again formed a band, the Madison Square Gardeners, which he led for three years before moving to Nashville, Tenn.
Described as a purveyor of "indie folk grit," he has worked with Jack White, Sean Lennon, Ian McLagen, Pat Green and Kevn Kinney of the band Drivin' N' Cryin'. Tasjan has released four EPs and two albums, In the Blazes in 2015 and Silver Tears in 2016. He has announced his next album, Karma for Cheap, will be released Aug. 31.
