CONFIDENCE RATINGS * educated guess * * things to like * * * plenty to like ****confident choice

1 Purse $24,000, 1 mile, fillies and mares, 3-year-olds and up, maiden claiming $20,000

**PASTICHE had to overcome a poor start and a six-wide trip in a deceptive fourth-place route finish at Churchill, and the lightly raced and improving filly drew a favorable post. HERALD SQUARE is a front-running sprinter who is adding blinkers, and she is bred to carry her speed this far. GREELEY AND ARIANA is a consistent finisher with competitive Beyer figures, and gets in light with an apprentice rider aboard.

PP HORSE JOCKEY TRAINER ODDS

1 Pastiche Santana Van Meter 3-1

5 Herald Square Pompell Holthus 4-1

6 Greeley and Ariana Morales Thomas 9-2

4 Annie Time Girl Birzer Gleason 10-1

2 Purse $24,000, 5½ furlongs, 4-year-olds and up, claiming $12,500

**INTERNET SUCCESS was a clear winner when last seen at this claiming price, and the 14-race winner has a good local record and enough speed to be in a striking position turning for home. WELL MANNERED finished first or second in 8-of-14 races in 2017. He has good early speed and is a major contender if he holds form for new connections. VBREEZE pressed a strong early pace before tiring in a better field Jan. 20, and the slight cut back in distance provides a chance to surprise.

3 Purse $23,000, 6 furlongs, 4-year-olds and up, starter allowance

***PRAY HARD had won three of his last four in Southern California before a second-place finish on opening day. He is very quick and will appreciate a fast track. CONQUEST HIOSILVER ran past the top selection in mid-stretch in a three-length victory Jan. 12. The consistent sprinter loves to win and may simply be the better sprinter. FAR OUT KAILEE was an impressive 9-length winner in his return to the races last winter at Oaklawn, and he is talented enough to win at the level but may be prepping for a near-future route.

**ELECTRIC AVENUE has a high-dollar pedigree and upbeat recent works for top connections, but the low debut price is an obvious concern. BREAD has done very little since finishing a distant second behind the super-fast Amy's Challenge in his debut at Canterbury, but this is an unusually weak maiden-claimer and having blinkers removed may help. ELCABALLODELMANANA took money in a third-place debut at Remington, and he is dropping in price and figures to improve with the experience.

**PINCHME I'MDREAMIN was a clear winner at a higher class level just two races back at Hawthorne. She is dropping in class following a slightly troubled and useful race over the track. ALITTLECOMPLICATED had a three-race winning streak snapped in a dull effort Jan. 15, but she is dropping in class and benefits from a big rider change. CORINTHIAN'S GLORY was overmatched in an allowance race, but she won her two previous races for $5,000 at Remington. She is reunited with her regular rider.

***SWORN SILENCE finished fast in a clear career debut victory at Churchill, and she sports encouraging subsequent works and keeps high percentage rider Ricardo Santana. BIG AXE is back on her preferred surface following two solid efforts at Turfway, and the addition of blinkers may move her up. COCO HONEY proved stubborn on the lead defeating $30k maiden-claimers at Fair Grounds, and he may prove to be more effective at sprint distances.

****ESKIMO KISSES showed promise when beaten a head in her career debut at Keeneland, and she finished second behind an odds-on favorite in her first start at Oaklawn. SONG OF MINE is an unraced $800,000 daughter of Ghostzapper and half-sister to champion Songbird. She sports a series of good works and trainer Dane Kobiskie wins with this kind. LA DAME BLANCHE finished sixth behind the top selection after setting a pressured pace in her seasonal debut.

****TRANSGRESS contested the pace and proved tough through the stretch winning a fast maiden-sprint. He recorded a strong subsequent breeze and is bred top-to-bottom to route. TITLE READY is adding blinkers after a competitive third-place allowance finish at Churchill, and he has recorded two swift 5-furlong works at Oaklawn. He is bred to improve at two-turn distances. DREAM BABY DREAM was a sharp maiden winner at Churchill when last ridden by Santana, and he finished third in a useful race over the track Jan. 13.

***ME N LOGAN RAY has not raced since March, but he showed good speed in a third-place return to the races after a similar layoff last winter. His workouts are snappier this season than last. I AM showed very little as a three-year-old in 2016, but he raced very well in two starts last winter at Oaklawn. He did finish in front of the top selection Feb. 19. MEGA BOSS is showing encouraging workouts leading up to his career debut. Trainer Jinks Fires is having an excellent meeting and he wins with first-timers.

EXOTIC POSSIBILITIES

The fifth race kicks off a 50-cent Pick-3 and contention runs deep, so an upset winner is plausible. The sixth race seems to be a two-horse race between BIG AXE and SWORN SILENCE, and the seventh race can be comfortably covered with two fillies. The late double may have a single in TRANSGRESS in the eighth race, and the ninth seems to be a three-horse battle.
