2 armed robberies reported at Little Rock convenience stores in about an hour, police say

Money was stolen in two holdups at Little Rock food marts reported within about an hour of each other Thursday night, police said.

Officers responded around 6:50 p.m. at Shannon Hills Food Mart, 13622 Sardis Road, in reference to an aggravated robbery, according to a Little Rock Police Department report.

A 38-year-old store employee said the robber walked in wearing a ski mask and pointed a gun at him in a demand for cash.

Police said the robber picked up an undisclosed amount of money and ran away from the business into a wooded area.

The worker, who complained of chest pains, was transported to UAMS Medical Center in Little Rock, an officer noted.

Authorities said the robber was also wearing light brown gloves, a dark-colored jacket, khaki pants and white tennis shoes. The ski mask was later found.

Another robbery was reported around 7:50 p.m. that night about 8 miles north at Glenns Food Mart, 6824 Colonel Glenn Road, a second report states.

The 43-year-old victim said he was robbed by someone who brandished a handgun as he was inside the convenience store. Cash was reported as stolen, but no amount was listed.

That robber, who reportedly wore a hoodie "cinched around his face" as well as gloves, was described as standing about 5 feet 6 inches tall and weighing around 140 pounds.

The holdups were not considered related, Little Rock police spokesman Steve Moore said.

No suspects were named, and no arrests had been made at the time of either report.
