While some couples use Valentine's Day to get closer, one North Little Rock law firm is offering those who aren't as smitten a chance to split up, free of charge.
Anyone who wants a free, uncontested divorce for themselves or for someone they nominate "who deserves it" in Arkansas can fill out a submission on Wilson & Haubert's website, the firm said.
The prize covers filing and summons fees as well as the usual four hours of billable time, totaling more than $985, "also known as 'priceless' if you need a divorce," the business wrote on Facebook.
If the divorce starts out uncontested and becomes contested — "It's weird how people getting divorced sometimes can't get along," the firm said — only the fees mentioned will be covered, and additional costs will apply.
Applicants must live in Arkansas and "can enter for a friend, lover, spouse, future spouse (think about it before you marry them), cousin, sibling, etc.," the post states.
The contest runs until Feb. 21, and the divorce must be filed by May 21.
