Police: 1 fatally shot at Conway home; resident says he fired in self-defense

CONWAY — Conway had its first fatal shooting of the year Thursday.

Officers responded to a residence on Bernard Drive on Conway's east side about 4:50 p.m., police spokeswoman Latresha Woodruff said.

According to police, a resident of the home shot a man. He told authorities that he did it in self-defense.

Woodruff added that the shooter and the victim were acquaintances but she did not know the nature of their relationship.

Police did not immediately release the shooter’s name, and authorities were trying to confirm the victim’s identity.

Another man fled after the shooting. The resident told police he did not know if he also had shot that person.
