Lisa Krannichfeld Walden

Where I live: Echo Valley. I share the space with my husband, Jamie, our two shepherds, Ming and Crash, and our orange tabby cat, Holden. We love it because it is in the middle of everything and we can hop on Cantrell to get downtown or out west in no time.

Occupation: artist

My favorite space is: The formal living room where the majority of our art collection hangs.

Why? When we moved in I had an itch to paint that room black and haven't regretted it once. The room has two floor to ceiling bright windows that allow me to get away with the dark, moody color. We have pieces from a lot of local artists including Cathy Burns, Neal Harrington, Missy Lipps, Lilia Hernandez, Taylor Shepherd, Sally Nixon, Rachel Trusty and several other artists that I've met through art shows and events. At times pieces of my own art will hang on the walls, until they find homes of their own! All the art just pops against the black walls making it such a fun, creative and inviting space. The first major furniture purchase I ever made also lives in that room -- the most beautiful black leather chesterfield sofa that a 28-year-old could afford! With all the artistic energy on the walls it's hard to even notice that the walls are all painted black.

If I could make one change to improve this space, I would: Make it have bigger walls for more art!
