A man was fatally stabbed in northeast Arkansas on Wednesday morning, authorities said.

Trumann police responded to the 500 block of Arkansas 463 about 7:20 a.m., according to a news release from the department. There, Darrell Clay Cox, 52, was suffering from multiple stab wounds, police said.

Cox was taken to a Jonesboro hospital, where he later died from his injuries, the release states.

Officers reportedly located the suspect, 50-year-old Michael Lee Slaughter, a few minutes after the call.

Slaughter has been arrested but was first hospitalized for injuries related to the dispute involving Cox, police said. He was being held at the Poinsett County jail as of Wednesday evening, according to the release.
