Weather forces schedule adjustments for baseball and softball games around state

Heavy rain and inclement weather have forced several schedule adjustments to events scheduled this weekend. A list of schedule changes include:

• The University of Arkansas at Fort Smith's baseball series against West Texas A&M, scheduled for Friday and Saturday, has been moved to Sunday and Monday at Crowder Field in Fort Smith. Sunday will feature a doubleheader starting at 3 p.m., with a single game Monday beginning at noon.

• Arkansas Tech University's baseball series against Northwestern Oklahoma State in Alva, Okla., will be played Saturday and Sunday. The teams will play a doubleheader at 3 p.m. Saturday and a single game at noon Sunday.

• Lyon College's baseball series against Missouri Baptist, scheduled for Friday and Saturday, has been pushed back to Monday and Tuesday at Scots Field in Batesville. The teams will play a doubleheader Monday starting at noon and Tuesday's game will start at 2 p.m.

• The Central Arkansas Invitational, a softball tournament hosted by the University of Central Arkansas, has reworked the schedule for the entire weekend. Today's games have been cancelled and the Bears will open tournament play Friday against Louisiana-Monroe at 4:30 p.m. They'll face Boise State on Saturday, then play Coppin State, Kansas and the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff on Sunday.

• Arkansas Tech's softball series against Northwestern Oklahoma State in Russellville, which was scheduled for Friday and Saturday, has been moved to Sunday and Monday in Bentonville. The four-game series will be played as doubleheaders on both days, with games starting at 3 p.m. Sunday and noon Monday.
