Rock Capital Real Estate purchased the Hall and Davidson buildings at 212 W. Capitol Ave. in downtown Little Rock for $2.3 million with plans to open a hotel at the location.

A downtown Little Rock boutique hotel project currently under development will be branded as an AC Hotel by Marriott, according to a firm behind its construction.

The location inside the historic Hall and Davidson buildings will the first of its kind in Arkansas, Derek Alley of Little Rock-based VCC Construction said in an emailed statement.

Alley told Arkansas Online on Friday that "selective demolition" has begun on the 112-room project, which has a tentative opening slated for the summer of 2019.

AC Hotel's Little Rock location, at the intersection of West Capitol Avenue and Louisiana Street, is also set to house a 5,000-square-foot restaurant and a lounge featuring "local cocktails and tapas plates," the statement reads.

The five-story Hall building was built in 1923, and the three-story Davidson annex was built in 1947. Both are listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

In May, Rock Capital Real Estate closed on the properties through 201 W. Capitol LLC for $2.3 million. The seller, Capitol Lofts LLC, had bought the buildings for $850,000 in 2013, the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette previously reported.

AC Hotel by Marriott has more than 75 locations planned to open in the U.S., including in Dallas, Boston, New York and Minneapolis. Its scope is also international, with hotels in more than 10 countries.
