Little Rock School District investigating after kindergartener walks off campus

A Little Rock kindergartener requested permission to go to the nurse's office Tuesday morning but left the school's campus instead, district officials said.

The student at Forest Heights Stem Academy, 5901 Evergreen Drive, was found walking toward Cantrell Road by a Little Rock School District employee, district spokeswoman Pamela Smith said in a statement. The child was safely returned to school, according to Smith.

The district is conducting an investigation and reviewing its processes with the goal of preventing similar situations from happening in the future, the statement read.
