Wade Weatherley, president of the Rose Bud School District board, said he is looking for an administrator “who will keep us going in the direction we’re already headed, financially and test scores.”

“Of course, that’s why we’re all in this, for our kids.”

Weatherley said Nail has done an “excellent job” of setting the course.

“I’m definitely going to miss him. I’d love for him to stay,” Weatherley said.

Nail was hired as Rose Bud’s superintendent in March 2016, and his annual salary is $109,300, plus the use of a school vehicle and a house with utilities paid. In Beebe, he was given a 248-day contract and a starting salary of $140,000, plus a vehicle. The Beebe school district has 3,200 students.

Belinda Shook, who has been the Beebe superintendent for 13 years, will retire at the end of the school year.

Nail said the Beebe School District’s positive reputation is one reason he applied for the position.

“It has a reputation of being a very good school; then when you drive up to Beebe schools, the facilities are unbelievable. I’ve always been told their staff is one of the best staffs in the state,” he said.
