Little Rock lecture featuring author of 'How to Be an Anti-Racist' canceled

A Little Rock lecture featuring an American University professor speaking about his book on racist ideas in the United States has been canceled.

There was no immediate word on whether it would be rescheduled.

EARLIER:

An American University professor will speak Monday in Little Rock about his book on racist ideas in the United States.

Ibram Kendi is an award-winning historian, professor of history and international relations at American University, and author of Stamped from the Beginning: The Definitive History of Racist Ideas in America.

The book won the 2016 National Book Award for nonfiction. His new book, How to Be an Anti-Racist, will be published by Random House this year.

Kendi will speak at noon Monday at the University of Arkansas Clinton School of Public Service’s Sturgis Hall, 1200 President Clinton Ave. in downtown Little Rock. A book signing will follow.

He has a master’s degree and Ph.D. in African American studies from Temple University and two bachelor’s degrees from Florida A&M University.
