Body found in Hot Springs lot identified as missing teen; autopsy rules death from hypothermia

A man found dead in a vacant lot in Hot Springs on Wednesday afternoon died from hypothermia, police said Monday.

Darrell Stipes, 18, of Mountain Pine was reported missing to the Garland County sheriff's office Dec. 5, a news release from the Hot Springs Police Department states.

He was found in a vacant lot near the intersection of Spring and Illinois streets and later identified by the state Crime Lab, authorities said.

Officials ruled the death "was the result of accidental hypothermia."
