Bentonville's I-49 gets lane closings

Work on a section of Interstate 49 in Bentonville will require overnight alternating lane closings and full lane closings for 15-minute intervals beginning Monday and continuing daily until the work is complete, the Arkansas Department of Transportation said.

Crews will close a lane of traffic for 1 mile north from U.S. 62/Arkansas 102 from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m., weather permitting.

Further, all traffic will be stopped for 15-minute intervals between 11 p.m. and 5 a.m. each night, the department said.

The lane closings, which are needed to allow crews to hang beams for the Eighth Street interchange overpass, will begin in the northbound lanes and finish in the southbound lanes.

The work is part of a $28.8 million project to improve the U.S. 62/Arkansas 102 interchange and construct the Eighth Street interchange.
