Arkansas Democrat-Gazette/MITCHELL PE MASILUN --4/27/2018-- Kyle Pounders, owner/operator of Excaliburger, serves up patrons during Food Truck Friday at Capitol Ave and Main street in downtown Little Rock Friday, April 27, 2018. The Food Trucks run through May 18.

The owner of the Excaliburger food truck said he is temporarily leaving Arkansas to sell cheeseburgers on a cross-country road trip throughout the United States.

On June 26, a cryptic post on the eatery’s Facebook page stated: "The end of an era. It has been amazing. Thank you."

The post caused some commenters to question whether the truck was permanently closing or simply moving locations.

The food truck, which opened in 2011, had set up in the parking lot at Helmich's Auto Service, 2712 Kavanaugh Blvd. in Hillcrest, on Monday nights and opened the garage doors to provide additional seating.

"Not closing for sure. You could say moving locations, but not forever," owner Kyle Pounders wrote in a Facebook message to an Arkansas Democrat-Gazette reporter. “Just on an indefinite road trip to sell cheeseburgers across America. It was the most American thing I could think of to do this summer."

The truck was in Denver as of Tuesday.

A request for further comment went unanswered, and it remains unclear when the food truck will return.

Daniel Bryant, who owns The Fountain and the upcoming Sauce(d) restaurant, has confirmed he'll be developing Helmich's and the property behind it into a casual restaurant, which he hopes to open later this year, the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette previously reported.
