Fireworks stand in Hot Springs robbed at gunpoint, police say

The operator of a fireworks stand in Hot Springs was robbed at gunpoint early Thursday by three people, authorities said.

An employee of Spa Fireworks, 36, told Garland County sheriff's deputies he was working at the stand, located at 3697 Malvern Road, shortly before 12:30 a.m. when three males entered the business to "look around."

He said they picked up several fireworks, valued at approximately $350, and took them up to the cash register.

At that point, one of the robbers pulled out a silver handgun and asked the employee for all the money. The employee was unable to open the cash register, and the trio fled after taking the victim's cellphone and wallet, the sheriff's office said.

The worker noted they left in a white, older model, "beat up," Ford Crown Victoria headed back toward Hot Springs on Malvern Road. The employee was not injured.
