Police: Apple computer stolen from Little Rock pawn shop; robber threatened to shoot worker

An Apple computer was stolen Friday afternoon in a robbery at a south Little Rock pawn shop, police said.

Officers responded shortly before 2:40 p.m. to Braswell & Son Pawnbrokers, 8302 Baseline Road, according to a report from the city’s Police Department.

Authorities say a male ran into the business, grabbed an Apple iMac off the counter and tried to run out of the store, at which point a 45-year-old employee followed and grabbed him.

A struggle then ensued, and the robber was able to make it outside before another fight over the stolen computer, the report states.

Police said the robber threatened to shoot the worker and was later able to get into a newer-model white Dodge Challenger with red rims and a red spoiler. The vehicle reportedly traveled south on Victoria Drive.

The employee suffered several cuts and “possibly a broken collarbone or dislocated shoulder,” the report states.

A witness reportedly recognized the robber as someone who had been inside the pawn shop earlier that day and looked at the computer. The computer's previous owner, a 29-year-old man, had also been at the store Friday trying to buy it back and argued with staff over the price, an officer noted.

As police investigated and asked witnesses to stay inside, 21-year-old Calen Peters was observed leaving the store. An officer followed and eventually grabbed his shirt sleeve to stop him, according to authorities.

The Little Rock resident, who became combative, reportedly said that he “didn’t have s--- to do with this.” Peters was arrested a short time later on charges of obstruction and refusal to submit. His name did not appear in online records for the Pulaski County jail as of Monday afternoon.
