• Oluwatobi Oja, 24, a former Tennessee correctional officer, was charged with assault after being accused of pepper-spraying an inmate for joining a lawsuit that said the jail did little to treat hundreds of inmates infected with scabies.
• James Hooper of Virginia Beach, Va., and his roommate took care of a pastel pied ball python they fished out of their toilet until the snake's owners claimed it after recognizing their pet in photos posted on social media.
• Falon Griffin gave birth in a San Antonio Chick-fil-A bathroom to a girl, who the company says will have free Chick-fil-A for life and a job offer when she turns 14.
