Police: Man, 26, shot during disturbance in west Little Rock motel room

A 26-year-old Little Rock man was shot once in the side of his torso during a disturbance early Monday inside a motel room in west Little Rock, authorities said.

Montrell Gant suffered injuries not believed to be life-threatening, police said in a report on the shooting at the Extended Stay America at 600 Hardin Road.

Officers were called to the motel just west of Interstates 630 and 430 shortly after 7 a.m.

Gant told authorities an argument over money owed to him escalated into a struggle when one man in the room produced a gun and pointed it, according to the report. Gant "attempted to get the firearm when it discharged into him," the report said.

The gunman and a second person with him left in a tan or champagne-colored Chevrolet sedan before police arrived.

One man was listed on the report as a possible suspect while the second person was not identified. No arrests had been made at the time of the report.
