A 64-year-old Arkansas man was found dead Wednesday evening in the White River near Buffalo City, the Baxter County sheriff’s office said in a news release.
The body of Edwin Evans of Lone Rock was pulled from the water after he was spotted facedown in the river. He was said to be wearing a life jacket.
The sheriff’s office said Evans had been seen boating in the area between Buffalo City and Riley’s Resort beginning around 9 a.m. He was seen moving inside his boat around 4 p.m., the release said, but resort officials who went to check on him later found his body in the water and alerted authorities.
The sheriff arrived about 6 p.m., and a diver found Evans’ body, the release said.
The cause of death will be determined by the state Crime Laboratory in Little Rock, the release said.
