Beaver Lake
Fishing tactics are shifting from spring to summer patterns as the water warms. Average water temperature is in the low 80s.
Aaron Jolliff at Hook, Line and Sinker in Rogers said crappie have moved deeper. Trolling crank baits is a good way to catch them. The Bandit 300 series is a favorite among warm-weather crappie trollers.
Striped bass are biting between Prairie Creek and Rocky Branch parks on shad or brood minnows. Walleye are biting well on nightcrawler rigs. For catfish, run limb lines or trotlines baited with sunfish.
Anglers after black bass are using top-water lures at sunrise and sunset. Try soft plastic lures for midday fishing.
Mike Whitehouse at Hickory Creek Marina said fishing for crappie is good by trolling Bandit 300 series crank baits. All colors are working, he said. Limits of 15 crappie are being caught.
Walleye are biting on the north end of the lake on nightcrawler rigs, he said. Jug fishermen are catching big flathead catfish baiting their lines with sunfish. Flatheads in the 20-pound range are common.
Beaver tailwater
Lisa Mullins at the Beaver Dam Store said trout are biting well on Power Bait in bright colors. Nightcrawlers will also work to catch trout or walleye. Best to inject the nightcrawlers with air so they'll float.
Lake Fayetteville
David Powell at the lake office said bluegill are biting well on glow worms or crickets. Use minnows for crappie. Black bass are biting well on jig and pigs in watermelon color.
Lake Sequoyah
Mike McBride at the lake bait shop said black bass are biting buzz baits, spinner baits and plastic worms.
Try for crappie eight to 10 feet deep with minnows or jigs. Catfish are biting fair on liver or shad.
Bella Vista
Justin McClelland at Hook, Line and Sinker in Bella Vista said bluegill are biting well on all Bella Vista lakes. Use crickets or worms two to five feet deep.
Black bass are going for top-water lures, plastic worms or jig and pigs fished six to 10 feet deep. Try nightcrawlers for catfish.
Swepco Lake
Kenny Stroud in Siloam Springs said black bass are biting all types of soft-plastic lures. Try top-water lures at sunrise, sunset or on cloudy days.
Illinois River
Stroud said black bass fishing is good with buzz baits, spinner baits, grubs or tube baits.
Eastern Oklahoma
Stroud said black bass at Lake Eucha are biting square-billed crank baits, top-water lures or plastic worms.
Table Rock Lake
The Missouri Department of Conservation reports good fishing for black bass with top-water lures at sunrise and sunset. Ned rigs in the peanut butter and jelly color may work for midday bass fishing. Main lake points are good areas to try.
Crappie are biting fair on minnows or jigs around docks and brush. Bluegill are biting well on worms.
