Gerber hosts food drive
Gerber Products Company of Fort Smith is joining its parent company, Nestle, in a national food drive and asks citizens of the River Valley to pitch in.
Through June 27, the company will accept canned or boxed food items at its baby food manufacturing plant at 4301 Harriet Ave. in Fort Smith. A container will be located at the guard house for ease of donating.
The food will be given to the River Valley Regional Food Bank, which supplies food to its network of 185 food pantries, soup kitchens and other nonprofit organizations in Fort Smith, Van Buren and 28 other towns throughout eight River Valley counties.

Blood center seeks donors
The Community Blood center of the Ozarks strives for area blood reserves to be at around a three-day supply for all blood types. At the time of this release, the blood center has less than optimum reserves for all negative blood types.
Upcoming blood drives include:
•Bella Vista: 10 a.m.-2 p.m. June 25, American Legion Post 341, 1889 Bella Way
•Harrison: 11 a.m.-4 p.m. June 27, Hillcrest Home, 1111 Maplewood Road

Assault topic at gathering
The Northwest Arkansas Center for Sexual Assault is hosting a meet and mingle at 9 a.m. June 27 at the center, located at 1670 W. Sunset Ave. in Springdale. Anyone interested in learning about the center and how to support survivors of sexual assault is invited to network with other faith-based communities and rape victim advocates and take part in discussion about the current needs of sexual assault survivors in Northwest Arkansas.
