Health survey results

In a survey of high school students in dozens of states, Arkansas held the top spot in the percentage of students who had ever been forced to have sex, driven while drinking, seriously considered suicide or been bullied on school property.

These numbers are VERY disturbing and raise the need for them to be addressed immediately. The most notable cause seems to be poverty and a lack of social education that includes sexual relations, social interactions such as bullying, and unsafe behavior. Before anyone jumps on the "religion and family" bandwagon, it should be noted that Arkansas is one of the most "religious" states in the union.
...
Looking through the data, AR ranks high in several categories over more progressive states like CA or MA. Even in categories one might expect a tech heavy culture to exist, AR ranks higher in texting or e-mailing while driving. Bullying is also a major concern based on the study, both in person and electronically.
...
But my guess is that our state will do nothing with the results or change any policies to curb the trend.

Yeah, but Rbear, how many of those pergessive states can brag about 150 million in new tax breaks, 200 million more on the way, and trimming 60,000 off of Obamakare. That’s progress dude.

"An Arkansas Democrat-Gazette survey last year found that 34 of the state's 262 public school districts don't teach sex education and that 85 percent of districts teach abstinence."

There's a big part of the problem. The backward, ignorant, ineffective abstinence only rant--I refuse to call it education, because it isn't---instead of proven effective age appropriate comprehensive sex education.

I’m not sure these issues can be solved with more guns which means Arkansans will have absolutely no clue what to do about it.

One " usual suspect " says ......."Arkansas ranks higher in texting or e-mailing while driving "

Isn't the usual liberal solution to everything ...ban the device they use ...?

Rbear..it was a joke as it has been a joke for probably 50 years. According to a CNBC report though (you know you love Google) Arkansas ranked 47 and Mississippi was 50 in a 2018 study so looks like it still holds true.

Skeptic agree on some other points. I know the joke. Sorry about questioning. Was just finding it interesting MS, AL and several others didn’t report or the data was not sufficient to report.
