A northwest Arkansas man remained in jail Monday, days after being arrested in the rape of a teenage girl, records show.

The 16-year-old told police earlier this month that Tyler Thompson of Siloam Springs had been inappropriately touching her for the past two years.

In an interview with the Benton County Child Advocacy Center, the girl said the latest occurrence was June 9 when she was lying on her brother's bed alone. Thompson reportedly crawled into bed with the victim and raped her, according to the affidavit.

The document states the first assault occurred when the victim was 14 years old. When she said "No," Thompson told her it was OK because they were only "snuggling."

Police wrote that the victim wanted to tell her mother, but she was scared of Thompson.

The 25-year-old denied raping the girl, saying it was consensual and that he did not mean to harm her.

Records show Thompson was arrested Wednesday and booked into the Benton County jail on a rape charge. He remained there Monday in lieu of $50,000 bond.

He is scheduled to appear in court July 31.
