Ken Bushe hands a photo ID to a poll worker at Laman Library in North Little Rock during voting for a North Little Rock sales-tax increase in August. It was the first election after the voter-ID law went into effect.

A 7-month-old law that requires Arkansas voters to show a government-endorsed photo identification to ensure that their ballot is counted goes before a judge today for the first test of its legality.

Our 'registration' needs to be re-written to PROVE citizenship. Counties in Texas and California are 'registering' illegals (and Arkansas is probably doing the same) which negates to Voter ID process anyway. A utility bill does NOT authenticate citizenship - our rules are from the 1800's!

Jimbob47: When you register you must provide a Driver's License Number or a Social Security Number AND check the box that you are a citizen. Undocumented voters is a non-issue in Arkansas.

This is such a stupid argument - only those trying to count the votes of the dead and illegals would be opposed to voter ID law. My polling place has required ID for many years and those little old ladies made you show it or you weren't allowed to vote - and this is a small town where basically everyone knows everyone anyway.

Liberals say once you register to vote, you should not have to show an ID every time you go to the polls.

Should we use the same criteria on exercising our 2nd Amendment rights?
After you get cleared to buy a gun the first time , should you later be able to buy future guns w/o showing an ID ?

The Federal Government needs to decide who is a citizen and quit making lawyers rich, state by state.

It's back to our government not doing it's job. Congress is still diddling with immigration and citizenship after 200 years. Somebodies must be getting rich off of this dilemma.

No goer ID! This disenfranchises the poor, disabled and elderly!

Yeah, it's not like you need to show an ID to register for food stamps and other public assistance, to obtain a handicapped tag, or to sign up for Social Security retirement benefits.

Gen, you can buy a gun anytime, anywhere with no id. Only cash needed.
So people are showing up, saying they are someone else, and voting in their place? That's what your saying the problem is. This very rarely happens. I've never heard of it happening to anyone I know. You?

Rbelv, GIVE ME A BREAK! The 100 yr old “mostly keep minority, poor and elderly residents from voting“ BS argument/ Talking Point is FAKE. The bottom line is Democrats depend on a certain percent of Non Citizen Residents via Free Stuff giveaways to get elected. All We The People In America want is AMERICANS Only voting, it’s that simple. These Utility Bill test don’t prove your a Citizen.
