Corkscrew attack reported in NLR

A woman was attacked with a corkscrew and robbed near Interstate 40 in North Little Rock on March 20, she told police.

About 1:40 p.m., officers were called to the Shell at 4622 Camp Robinson Road, a report states. The 23-year-old victim told police she was walking south on the bicycle trail under I-40 when a tan SUV pulled up and two women, a male and some children got out.

One of the strangers approached her and said, "You tried to jump me while I was pregnant," according to the report.

The assailant ran at her and tried to punch her with a corkscrew she had in her fist, the victim told police. The 23-year-old said she ran away, leaving her phone, keys, sweater and wig on the ground. The attacker took the items and told the victim that she could come get them if she wanted them back, then drove away, the report states.

The victim said she did not recognize her assailant and had moved to the area this month.

Police named a suspect in the report, but the 22-year-old did not appear in the Pulaski County jail online inmate roster as of Monday afternoon.

Suspect arrested in shooting in LR

A 22-year-old has been arrested after a man was shot in the leg during a fight Sunday outside a grocery store in Little Rock, police said.

Officers responded shortly before 12:45 p.m. to the Family Dollar at 4514 12th St., according to a report from the city's Police Department.

A witness at the scene told police that Shaheed K. Williams had been fighting with 20-year-old Kristopher Arnold in the Neighborhood Grocery parking lot, 4423 W. 12th St., when Williams pulled out a handgun and fired a shot. Arnold was reportedly hit in his left thigh.

The Little Rock resident was taken to a nearby hospital, the report states, and his injuries were not believed to be life-threatening.

While officers were searching the area, Williams' grandmother flagged them down and told investigators where he could be found, authorities said.

The 22-year-old was reportedly located hiding behind another nearby grocery store. Williams told police that he threw his handgun into a ditch between 12th and Adams streets, but officers noted that they didn't find the weapon.

He was charged with first-degree battery and tampering with physical evidence, records show. Williams was not listed on the Pulaski Couny jail roster as of Monday night.

Overly low prices spur store conflict

Police say a man attacked workers at a west Little Rock Walmart after he was confronted over merchandise he tried to buy at less than its actual value.

Officers were called around 6:05 a.m. Sunday to the retailer's 19301 Cantrell Road location, according to a Little Rock Police Department report.

A store manager, noticing that a customer was being charged 88 cents for items that normally rang up at a higher price, approached the man as he scanned items at the self-checkout, police said.

When told that he would need to pay full price for the items, the customer, believed to be in his 20s, became upset and started cursing, workers said.

After being told to leave, the man tried to exit with a cart "full of items," including a $500 television, a comforter and a candle, the report noted.

He reportedly dropped all the items and started walking toward the exit, noticing at one point that he was being recorded by an employee.

Police said the assailant punched two workers standing near the store's exit. A third worker who was pushed tried to get the attacker to the ground, according to authorities.

Authorities said the robber eventually left in a maroon 2004 Saturn SL1 with an Arkansas license plate of 531 XGT.

All three employees who were hurt in the confrontation, including two with "very noticeable scratch marks to the right side of their necks," refused medical treatment.

A suspect was named in the report, though his name did not appear in Pulaski County arrest records as of Monday morning.
