Joplin Area Sports HoF to induct Loyd

Rogers High football coach Mike Loyd will be inducted into the Joplin (Mo.) Area Sports Hall of Fame at a banquet at 7 p.m. Friday at the Butchers Block Banquet Center. Loyd, a 1974 graduate of Joplin Memorial High School, played college football at Missouri Southern and professional football in the NFL, Canadian Football League and the USFL. He has coached football in college and high school for more than 30 years. Loyd has led the Mounties to the playoffs the past two seasons. He will be inducted, along with the 1959 Joplin High School state runner-up basketball team and the 1959 Joplin state champion baseball team. Tickets are available for $20. FOOTBALL CAMP

Burlsworth camp dates set for summer

The Brandon Burlsworth Foundation will offer two summer football camps for players who will be in grades 3-9 next school year. The cost of the camp is $35 and the deadline to register early is May 25. Participants can register the day of the camp for $45. The camps will be held on June 1 in Harrison at F.S. Garrison Stadium, and June 2 at War Memorial Stadium in Little Rock. The camps will include instruction for a number of former Arkansas football players. Arkansas men’s basketball coach Mike Anderson will hold a series of camps this summer in Fayetteville. The camp schedule will include the following dates: June 11-13, Day Camp 1 (Grades 1-3); June 11-13, Day Camp 1 (Grades 4-6); June 15-16, Team Camp; June 17-20, Overnight/ Commuter Camp (Grades 4-12); June 25-27, Day Camp 2 (Grades 4-12); July 9-11, Day Camp 3 (Grades 1-3); July 9-11, Day Camp 3 (Grades 4-6); July 23-25, Day Camp 4 (Grades 1-3); July 23-25, Day Camp 4 (Grades 4-6). Ozark FC roster finalized for coming season

The Ozark FC semi-pro soccer team will play its first home match of the season on May 26 at 7 p.m. at Veterans Park in Rogers. Ozark FC’s roster includes 19 players with ties to Northwest Arkansas, including a number of former prep standouts Other home matches are June 2 at Jarrell Williams Bulldog Stadium, June 23 in Fayetteville, June 30 in Bella Vista, and July 7 at Veterans Park.
