Extending services subject of meetings

Little Rock's Planning and Development Department will hold three public sessions this week about its study on the cost of providing services to its extraterritorial jurisdiction.

All meetings will be from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.

Monday's meeting will be at the Wilma Walker Civic Center, 4200 Frazier Pike.

Tuesday's meeting will be at the Korean Presbyterian Church, 600 Kirby Rd.

Wednesday's meeting will be at the Centre at University Park, 6401 W. 12th St.

Residents are invited to give input on the city's study. The city has contracted with a firm to review what the cost and effects would be if it were to extend city services past city limits to the areas where Little Rock has zoning jurisdiction. That would include police, fire, trash and road services

The Little Rock Water Reclamation Authority is doing it's own study to review how it could extend wastewater services to those areas.

Police news briefing to key on recruiting

The Little Rock Police Department will preview its new recruitment initiative at a news conference Monday.

Police Chief Kenton Buckner, Mayor Mark Stodola and others will be at the 10 a.m. conference at the department's station at 3917 W. 12th St.

Information will be given to those interested in becoming Little Rock police officers. The city is looking to expand and diversify its police force.

Little Rock hired a consultant to review its recruiting efforts and created a new public relations campaign and recruiting website. More details on the new recruitment initiative will be discussed at Monday's event.
