Mary Susannah Monk became the bride of Reed Emil Willett at 4:30 p.m. Thursday, May 10, at a private residence on Santa Rosa Beach, Fla. Sylvia Borchert, a family friend, officiated.
Lynn and Jim Monk of Little Rock are the parents of the bride. Her grandparents are the late Jeslyn and Emory McCleary and the late Birdie and James Monk, all of Hot Springs.
Parents of the groom are Chuck Willett of Grant, Fla., and the late Nancy Goode of Little Rock. He is the grandson of the late Willo and John Goode and the late Marie Willett and James McClaren, all of Little Rock.
A balcony overlooking the beach, where vows were exchanged, was decorated with an arrangement of white anthurium and calla lilies, monstera leaves and Cleopatra ferns.
The bride, given in marriage by her father, wore a sleeveless diamond-white V-neck gown of ruched fabric gathered at the waist and extending to a fit-and-flare skirt with a chapel-length train. She carried a bouquet of dendrobium orchids, calla lilies, blush roses and tropical greenery.
She was assisted by her sister, Sarah Duke of Little Rock. Ring bearers were Andrew Duke and Bennett Duke of Little Rock, nephews of the bride.
After the ceremony, guests gathered for a champagne toast on the beach followed by a dinner reception on the grounds of the residence. Guest tables under a tent lighted with Japanese lanterns held arrangements of tropical foliage, white calla lilies, white tuberoses, white anthurium and dendrobium orchids. Music was by The Bay Kings of Tampa, Fla.
The bride attended Louisiana State University where she was a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma and graduated from the University of New Orleans with a bachelor's degree in hotel and restaurant management. She is a youth and family engagement coordinator for Habitat for Humanity in Charlotte, N.C.
The groom is a graduate of the University of Arkansas where he was a member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon and received a bachelor's degree in business. He is a compliance analyst for Mass Mutual in Charlotte.
The couple will live in Charlotte and plan a fall wedding trip.
