WHAT: Mountain Valley Sparkling Spring Water
STATS: One cup contains zero everything -- calories, fat, carbohydrates, fiber, sugar and protein. We tried press samples; products can be purchased at Kroger. Visit mountainvalleyspring.com for more information.
THE SKINNY: Mountain Valley might not sound as fancy as La Croix, (which comes not from Europe, but La Crosse, Wis.), Perrier or S.Pellegrino.
It doesn't need to. "We pride ourselves on truth, integrity and naturally, pure water," says the website of the Arkansas spring-water brand that has been bottled continuously since 1871.
While it has been around more than 145 years, Mountain Valley is still keeping up with the times, having introduced sparkling water and sparkling essences ("just enough fruit and fizz to be thoroughly refreshing") in its signature green glass bottles. The line, which includes Blackberry Pomegranate and Lime Twist, is introducing a new light and lively White Peach flavor.
Adding even more varieties would be just peachy with us.
