Arkansan dies after crash in which car overturned; state police say 21-year-old didn't halt at stop sign

A 21-year-old Arkansan was killed Wednesday night after his car hit trees and overturned, state police said.

The crash happened shortly before 10:30 p.m. at the intersection of Arkansas 530 and Arkansas 35 in Monticello, according to a preliminary report.

Troopers wrote that 21-year-old Kentrez Davis of Warren was driving a 2018 Dodge Challenger north on Arkansas 530 when he failed to stop at a stop sign at the intersection of Arkansas 35.

Authorities said the car traveled across the highway and hit a tree, causing it to overturn. The car hit several more trees before it stoped while upside down, the report states.

A passenger, 20-year-old Keeton Orrell of Monticello, was listed as hurt. Conditions were described as clear and dry at the time of the wreck.

The day before, a fatal crash was reported in Pulaski County.

State police wrote that 71-year-old Donale Lambert of Mayflower was driving at 10:50 a.m. Tuesday in the 11000 block of Batesville Pike Road when his 1998 Jeep traveled off the wet road.

Lambert suffered fatal injuries when his vehicle hit a tree, according to a separate report. It was misting at the time, authorities said.

State police also released information Thursday about an earlier crash that left one man dead and another hurt.
