Back Yard Burgers reopens in Rogers

Back Yard Burgers in Rogers reopened under new ownership. The 3,330-square-foot restaurant is at 4301 Pleasant Crossing Blvd. and is open from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily

Josh Powell is the new franchise owner. He also owns nine other Back Yard Burgers in Arkansas, Mississippi and Tennessee.

Powell hired 15 employees to work in the Rogers restaurant.

Back Yard Burgers was founded in 1987 in Cleveland, Miss. The brand operates 51 locations in 11 states.

Goodwill opening Rogers outlet store

Goodwill Industries of Arkansas will open an outlet store Thursday at 1301 N. Dixieland Road in Rogers. A ribbon cutting and grand opening will begin at 8:45 am. The 100,000-square-foot store will also eventually include a resource center.

The facility will be Goodwill's 43rd location in the state, creating 30 new jobs in its first year. The store will offer used items at discounted prices. Customers may fill their shopping carts and pay by the pound.

The new Goodwill Resource Center will house a career center where workers will help residents with such things as job searches, resume preparation and interview skills. All services are free of charge.

The outlet store will be open from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday-Saturday and from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday.

Mercy Fort Smith starts Project Search

Mercy Hospital Fort Smith launched a program that prepares young adults with developmental disabilities for employment.

The Project Search Arkansas: Access Initiative began as a partnership between Access and Arkansas Rehabilitative Services, a division of the Department of Career Education. Access is a Little Rock-based, nonprofit organization offering evaluations, therapy services, education and vocational training for individuals with special needs.

Project Search is a nine-month vocational training program that assists young adults who have disabilities with finding employment. Eleven interns are working in a variety of departments at the hospital as they gain transferable skills toward gainful employment. The statewide program has 63 students enrolled this year and has served more than 170 in its first five years.

Renovated eye clinic gets new name

Northwest Health Eye Clinic, formerly Legacy Eye Center, recently opened in a renovated and expanded space in Siloam Springs. The clinic remains at 500 S. Mount Olive St. but is now in Suite 100 at the front entrance.

The clinic will hold a ribbon cutting and open house at 10 a.m. Monday.

Dr. John A. Billingsley III and his staff have more room for the technology needed to perform in-office procedures. Billingsley also has an eye surgery suite at Siloam Springs Regional Hospital.

Northwest Health Eye Clinic offers services such as cataract surgery, macular-degeneration treatment, diabetic retinopathy laser treatment, dry eye treatment, eyelid surgery, eye injuries, comprehensive eye examinations, eyelid cleaning procedures for dry eye and blepharitis and facial rejuvenation services.
