An amazing game

Tiger Woods may have made it above the fold Monday, but the surprise story came closer to home: The Arkansas Travelers won Sunday afternoon.

The Travs are in first place by three games (in mid-April!) so the team winning isn’t a surprise. What is a surprise: The way they won Sunday.

There are more ways to get on base than getting a hit. You can get hit with a pitch. Or draw a walk. Or strike out, have the catcher drop the ball, and beat the throw to first. Catcher’s interference. Fielder’s choice. An error by the outfield.

So the Travs were able to beat Tulsa 1-0 without getting a hit during the game.

Yes, the pitchers for the Tulsa Drillers threw a no-hitter. Yet lost.

That’s more rare a feat in baseball than the triple-play.

The catcher for our team, Joseph Odom, drew a bases-loaded walk in the 10th to score the only run. The other runners had gone onboard with walks and a hit-by-a-pitch. Another walk, and . . . game over. Strangely.

It’s an amazing game, baseball. See you at the park.
