Count birds at Devil's Den

Northwest Arkansas Audubon Society will host a Great Backyard Bird Count field trip at 9 a.m. Saturday at Devil's Den State Park west of Winslow. Meet at the Devil's Den Trail parking area south of the Lee Creek Bridge.

Anyone interested in birds is welcome to participate. Audubon membership is not required. The count is mostly level walking on paved roads and trails. Data will be entered into a national Great Backyard Bird Count database.

Native seed collection discussed

A new program to collect native plant seeds is the topic of a program from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Feb. 21 at the West Fork Public Library, 210 Garfield Ave.

The Beaver Watershed Alliance will host the program. Speakers are Jennifer Ogle with Arkansas Natural Heritage Commission and Jon Young with Audubon Arkansas. The program is free and lunch is provided.

Cleanup targets Lake Sequoyah

Beaver Watershed Alliance will host a cleanup at Lake Sequoyah from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Feb. 26.

Check in begins at 11 a.m. at 6608 E. Lake Sequoyah Drive in Fayetteville. Volunteers with boats are especially needed to reach a remote area of the lake, but all volunteers are welcome. Gloves, tools and lunch will be provided.

Lost Valley closed this month

Lost Valley, near Boxley in the Buffalo National River area, is closed while improvements are made on the hiking trail, entrance road and parking area. The work is expected to be finished in late February.

Team Trail welcomes anglers

Registration is open for 2019 Northwest Arkansas Team Trail bass tournaments. Anglers fish in two-person teams in tournaments. All are held at Beaver Lake.

There is a membership fee of $50 per angler. Entry fee is $100 per boat for each tournament. There are five season tournaments and a two-day championship. Registration forms are available at Hook, Line and Sinker in Rogers and Bella Vista, Southtown Sporting Goods in Fayetteville and Bradford Marine and ATV in Springdale.
