Earnings report

Companies reporting quarterly earnings Thursday included:

Aaron’s Inc., the rent-to-own company, a profit of $61.7 million, or 89 cents a share, from $177.6 million, or $2.46 a share, a year ago. Revenue was $993.2 million. Shares rose $3.40 to close at $53.80.

Ameren Corp., the St. Louis-based power company, a profit of $68 million, or 28 cents a share, from a loss of $60 million, or 24 cents a share, a year ago. Revenue was $1.42 billion. Shares fell $1.03 to close at $69.03.

Arch Coal Inc., a profit of $86.1 million, or $4.44 a share, from $46.1 million, or $3.64 a share, a year ago. Revenue was $651 million. Shares rose $6.13 to close Thursday at $89.38.

Vulcan Materials Co., the construction materials company, a profit of $124 million, or 93 cents a share, from $327.5 million, or $2.43 a share, a year ago. Revenue was $1.09 billion. Shares rose $6.80 to close at $112.69.
