Microplane Cube Grater
Microplane Cube Grater

We're longtime fans of Russellville-based Microplane's kitchen tools. We've tried the knockoffs and they simply don't work as well. But having several different Microplane rasps — one for zesting citrus, another for grating parmesan, a third for nutmeg, a fourth for chocolate — meant a whole bunch of tools clattering around in a drawer.

Enter the Microplane Cube Grater. This compact grater features three stainless blades — fine, for zesting citrus and hard cheese; ribbon for grating chocolate and coconut; and a coarse blade for grating softer cheeses such as cheddar or mozzarella — in a sturdy plastic housing. The ultra-sharp blades can also be used to slice and grate vegetables. The storage box includes measure marks so you can measure as you grate and holds up to 1 ½ cups. The tool is small enough to fit in a deep drawer, but can also hang out in the corner of the cabinet without getting in the way. According to product information on the Microplane website, the blades are made in the United States and the cubes are assembled in China. For more information, visit us.microplane.com
