Douglas Hutchings joined the Arkansas Research Alliance as director of the Academy of Scholars and Fellows. Hutchings is also a founding board member of the Arkansas Advanced Energy Association and founder and chief executive officer of Silicon Solar Solutions in Fayetteville.

Lacey Ekberg was named executive director of Eureka Springs' Advertising and Promotion Commission. She was an economic development specialist for the U.S. Department of Commerce and has worked at numerous chambers of commerce, event centers and convention centers.

Hannah Waggener, CPT, CES, wellness specialist at Hope Cancer Resources, recently earned cancer exercise specialist certification from the Cancer Exercise Training Institute through the American Council on Exercise. She has worked at Hope Cancer Resources for a year.

Dr. Juan Mejia-Otero joined Arkansas Children's Northwest. He is a pediatric endocrine specialist. Mejia-Otero is also an assistant professor of pediatrics in the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences, College of Medicine in Little Rock. He completed his fellowship in pediatric endocrinology at the University of Texas Southwestern-Children's Medical Center Dallas and is board-certified in pediatric endocrinology. Mejia-Otero received his medical degree from Universidad Libre, in Cali, Colombia, and has worked at Miami Children's Hospital.

Waylon Wylie, a FedEx Freight truck driver from Centerton, won first place in the four-axle division at the Arkansas Trucking Association's 2019 Arkansas Truck Driving Championship competition held July 12--13 in Rogers. He has worked for FedEx Freight for two years and has 50,000 safe-driving miles.

Gary Mars, a Walmart Transportation truck driver from Fayetteville, won first place in the flatbed division at the Arkansas Trucking Association's 2019 Arkansas Truck Driving Championship competition held July 12--13 in Rogers. Mars has been with Walmart Transportation for 16 years and has been a truck driver for 30 years with more than 3.2 million safe-driving miles. He qualified to represent Arkansas at nationals five times and was named the Arkansas Grand Champion in 2014 and 2016.

Dr. Natalie D. Jordan recently joined Baptist Health-Fort Smith. She is board certified in general psychiatry and geriatric psychiatry. She provides inpatient treatment for adults at Baptist Health Senior Care Behavioral Health-Fort Smith. Jordan earned her doctorate in medicine from the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences in Little Rock. She began her residency program in psychiatry at UAMS and completed it at the University of Minnesota, where she also completed a fellowship in geriatric psychiatry.

Dr. Andrew Coppola will join the FirstCare South clinic on Thursday. He is a family medicine physician who earned his bachelor's degree in biology at the University of Arkansas, Fayetteville. Coppola earned his medical degree from the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences in Little Rock and completed his family medicine residency at Baylor Scott and White Health in Garland, Texas. He worked in urgent care for the past year while finishing his residency.
