Prescribed burn set for Burns Park

A prescribed burn is scheduled for Monday in North Little Rock's Burns Park, depending on weather conditions.

There will be two adjacent burn areas south of Interstate 40, according to a map from the Arkansas field office of The Nature Conservancy in Little Rock.

Arlene Laman Drive will be closed for the burn, according to a city Parks and Recreation Department notice.

The burn is scheduled to start between 11 a.m. and noon, according to the notice.

St. Joseph garden plans yearly feast

The sixth annual Feast of St. Joseph Celebration will start at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday in the St. Joseph Garden-Farm Stand area in the working farm at 6800 Camp Robinson Road in North Little Rock.

The Feast of St. Joseph is "where communities comes together to give thanks and ask for blessings that the coming growing season will provide bountiful crops for the farm and food for the hungry," according to the St. Joseph announcement of the event.

Guests are encouraged to provide a nonperishable food item to be donated to Amboy Food Pantry.

A spaghetti supper will be served in the dining hall. Ticket sales will support the farm and will be sold at the door. Tickets will be $10 for adults, $5 for children under 12 years of age and free for those under 3 years old.

St. Joseph is a former orphanage listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

Fundraiser to aid animals is April 12

Pasta for Paws, a fundraiser for North Little Rock Friends of Animals, has been scheduled for 5-8 p.m. on April 12 in the Patrick Hays Senior Citizens Center at 401 W. Pershing Blvd.

The dinner will include spaghetti, bread sticks, salad, drinks and dessert. There will also be a silent auction and live entertainment from DB Reflections Entertainment Tribute.

Tickets are $15 for adults and $10 for children ages 8 and younger.

Early ticket purchases are available online through eventbrite.com. Tickets will also be available at the door the night of the event.

All proceeds will go toward the North Little Rock Friends of Animals' mission. The nonprofit helps to support the city's North Little Rock Animal Shelter programs.
