30 Crossing motion on board's agenda

A resolution authorizing the mayor, city manager and city clerk to negotiate an agreement between the city and the Arkansas Department of Transportation on the design and construction of the 30 Crossing project is on the agenda for the city board's nonvoting meeting Tuesday.

30 Crossing is the name of a $631.7 million project to widen and reconstruct the Interstate 30 corridor through downtown Little Rock and North Little Rock.

In February 2016, the city entered into a contract for consulting services to evaluate the 30 Crossing project, which the Transportation Department had undertaken. Those recommendations included the preparation and negotiation of an interagency agreement. A master plan for the corridor, and a final draft outlining the design elements, associated cost and responsible entity, was prepared.

The resolution outlines the costs the city is responsible for, including costs associated with the elements of the Sixth Street and Ninth Street overpasses beyond what the Transportation Department would typically provide.

The department estimates that the cost of the elements of the project to be funded by the city is $3.8 million, according to the resolution.
