Church notes: Special events at area churches

Carroll County

Heart of Many Ways in Eureka Springs, 68 Mountain St., hosts a harp concert at 3 p.m. Nov. 10. Lorelei Barton, harpist for two symphony orchestras in Oklahoma, will present the classical harp program, and Harpe Diem will combine harps with viola, flute and concertina for Celtic and Americana music.

The concert is a benefit for Heart of Many Ways, a nonprofit organization in an historic church building that is raising funds to replace the roof. Suggested donation is $10 at the door.

Benton County

Bella Vista Community Church, 75 E. Lancashire Blvd., hosts a patriotic worship service in honor of Veterans Day from 10 to 10:45 a.m. Nov. 10, followed by a short break. The annual meeting is from 10:55 to 11:30 a.m.

BVCC hosts a presentation by the Benton County Sheriff's Office called Parents Night Out from 6 to 8 p.m. Nov. 14 in our sanctuary. Discussion includes the dangers children face online and how to proactively protect them. No children are permitted due to the subject matter. Sign up in advance online only at bvcc.net. Bella Vista Lutheran Church, 1990 Forest Hills Blvd., hosts a special worship service for those that are unable to attend a regular worship service at 11:30 a.m. Nov. 5. Following the service, a lunch will be served. For transportation, call 855-0272.

All singers are welcome to join in the mass choir to sing Handel's "Messiah." The choir practices are on Saturdays at 10 a.m. The Celebration Choir and Orchestra will perform "The Messiah" at 3:30 p.m. Dec. 8.

GriefShare meets on Thursdays at 3 p.m. in the church library. If you have lost a loved one recently, this is a great support group for you.

The Men's Bible study group meets on Mondays at 1 p.m. and again at 7 p.m. Please park in the rear parking lot and enter the lower level.

The Shepherd's Food Pantry is open every Friday from 10 a.m. until noon. Along with the items needed for a Thanksgiving meal, they are also in need of cereal. A container for your donation is in the church narthex.

First Presbyterian Church of Rogers, 1901 S. 26th St., hosts three Bible study classes on Monday and Tuesday mornings and on Wednesday evening. This last class starts at 5 p.m. and features a meal before class. Choir practice follows at 7 p.m.

Communion will be held at the 10:30 a.m. service Sunday.

The Men's Lunch group meets weekly on Wednesdays and the Women's Lunch Bunch meets monthly (Nov. 7) at local restaurants.

The church also hosts the monthly Garden Club (Nov. 5), two Cub Scout packs and a weekly self-improvement yoga class.

Forest Hills Church in Bella Vista, an American Baptist congregation, 1702 Bella Vista Blvd., hosts a Sunday Singalong at 4 p.m. Sunday with the band All In and the McCafferty Sisters. All are welcome.

Good Shepherd Evangelical Lutheran Church in Rogers, 2305 S. Dixieland Road, hosts a potluck meal following worship Sunday, and the Women's Second Saturday Brunch and Bible Study is at 10 a.m. Nov. 9.

The Presbyterian Church of Bella Vista, 1880 Forest Hills Blvd., hosts a Prior Proper Planning workshop at 3 p.m. Nov. 14. Guest speakers will provide information about estates, wills, funeral arrangements and charitable giving. Church members should sign up in Connector Hallway. Community members can call the church office to attend. All are welcome.

Unitarian Universalists of Benton County, 1400 W. Walnut, No. 113, Rogers, present Charles Faulk, UUBC music director, speaking on "A Brief History of Protest Songs" at the 11 a.m. service Sunday. His presentation will describe how protest songs have changed over time and will include some of the significant protest songs and artists.

Village Bible Church in Bella Vista, 1591 Forest Hills Blvd., opens its Oasis Food Pantry from 10 a.m. to noon Nov. 6. This ministry is available to anyone in the area who needs help with groceries and would appreciate the compassion and encouragement of friendly volunteers.

A potluck fellowship dinner will begin at 5:30 p.m. in the Fellowship Hall, and the community is always welcome. At 6:30 p.m. there will be singing, devotions and prayer in the Worship Center. Infant and toddler nursery for kids is offered as well, and the community is always warmly welcomed.
