Officers spot fight in car; man arrested

North Little Rock police responding to a possible carjacking Wednesday found two people fighting in the front seat of a vehicle -- the driver attempting to pull away, the passenger holding him back, an arrest report said.

Police reported finding drugs and drug paraphernalia in the vehicle where Harold Wayne, 41, tried to run from officers, an arrest report said. The original 911 call indicated a possible carjacking near 1524 Pike Ave., the report said.

Officers said the car was revving but still in park, when they arrived, and Wayne and the passenger were fighting across the front seat.

Officers said Wayne fought, taking one policeman to the ground, but was eventually arrested on charges of fleeing, resisting arrest, violating an order of protection and four charges of drug possession.

Wayne was in the Pulaski County jail Thursday evening in lieu of a $25,000 bond, according to the jail's roster.

Child found roving; Virginia mom held

A Virginia woman was arrested Wednesday after her child was found roaming in a parking lot while the woman was inside in a restroom for more than 40 minutes, a report said.

Little Rock police officers arrested Tonya Leigh Wright, 36, on a charge of second-degree endangering the welfare of a minor after shoppers near 612 E. Roosevelt Road, a gas station, reported the child had been wandering alone in the parking lot for more than an hour, the report said.

Officers arrived and found the child, whose age was not mentioned, with multiple witnesses outside the gas station, the report said. A store employee said Wright had been in the restroom for more than 40 minutes.

The report said that when Wright left the restroom, she exhibited signs of drug use.

The Arkansas Department of Human Services took custody of the child, and Wright was transported to the Pulaski County jail, where she remained Thursday in lieu of a $1,500 bond, according to the jail's roster and the report.
