Space alliance, trade center team up

The Arkansas Aerospace and Defense Alliance announced a partnership with World Trade Center Arkansas that the alliance said will help underwrite its members' participation at national and international trade shows.

The partnership will allow aerospace and defense companies based in Arkansas to attend trade shows at reduced cost, the alliance said in a news release.

Attending major aerospace trade shows "can be cost prohibitive for all but the biggest companies," said Chad Causey, the alliance's executive director. "By working with the World Trade Center Arkansas, we can help take our state's A&D businesses to the global marketplace."

World Trade Center Arkansas, an arm of the University of Arkansas, secures funding for Arkansas companies through a U.S. Small Business Administration grant program.

"With the fast-growing maintenance, repair and operations industry in Southeast Asia, I foresee a lot of opportunities for our state's companies," said Boon Tan, the center's senior director of global trade strategy.
