BENTONVILLE -- Aubrey Patterson said she will seek reelection to the City Council Ward 3, Position 1 position.

Ward 3 is in southwest Bentonville. The City Council has eight members, two each in four wards.

Patterson, 40, has served on the council since March 2018, according to a news release. She's lived in Bentonville for 18 years.

"I am seeking reelection because I want to continue serving as a voice for residents on the council. I really enjoy connecting with people and helping them navigate local government," she said.

Patterson said she remains committed to expanding infrastructure, improving access to parks, supporting the police and fire departments and ensuring the city's growth and development continues in a responsible manner. She's in favor of the city removing the dam at Lake Bella Vista to create a free-flowing stream, which residents can use for recreation.

Patterson serves as the City Council ex-officio member of the Airport Advisory Board and has served on the Traffic, Signage, and Safety Committee.

Patterson has a bachelor's degree in political science from University of Central Arkansas and expects to complete a master's degree in teaching from UCA in December, according to the release.

Council members are paid $808 per month, according to the city website.

Municipal filings begin at noon Wednesday and end at noon Aug. 5. The nonpartisan election is Nov. 3.
