FOOTBALL HSU’s Rodgers named finalist for Harlon Hill Henderson State junior quarterback Kevin Rodgers is one of nine finalists for the Harlon Hill Trophy, which is given to NCAA Division II’s top player. Rodgers leads Division II in passing yards per game (400.6), total offense (399.5 ypg), third in touchdowns (40) and fourth in passing efficiency (178.64). This season, Rodgers completed 322 of 467 passes for 4,807 yards and 40 touchdowns, leading the Reddies to an 11-1 record. Henderson State lost to St. Cloud State in the first round of the Division II playoffs on Saturday in Arkadelphia. The other finalists for the award are quarterbacks Luke Charles (North Carolina-Pembroke ), Bo Cordell (Tusculum), Dustin Vaughn (West Texas A&M) and Jon Wolf (Minnesota State-Mankato ), and running backs Glen Clinton (Chadron State), Franklyn Quiteh (Bloomsburg), Tyler Tonderum (Southwest Minnesota State) and Rondell White (West Chester).

RUSTON, La. — Hanna Qedan had a career-high 26 points and Aundrea Gamble added 23 to help Arkansas State to a 91-68 victory, its first on Louisiana Tech’s home floor. Qedan and Gamble each made 8 of 12 shots from the floor and combined to make 7 of 10 three-pointers to help the Red Wolves race to an early lead while shooting 53.1 percent from the field. ASU (3-1 ) scored the game’s first eight points, with four coming from Qedan, and led 20-5 after the game’s first eight minutes.
