Lyle L. Ayre

Lyle L. Ayre, age 77, formerly of Abilene, passed away Saturday, July 31, 2010 at Legacy Village, Circle of Life, Bentonville, Arkansas. Lyle was born June 21st, 1933 in Talmage Kansas to Russell and Addie Gish Ayre. He spent his boyhood years in the Talmage community where he was very involved in the 4-H club and enjoyed playing basketball on the 4-H team and for the Talmage town team. Lyle graduated from Abilene High School in the class of '50, married his high school sweetheart, Shirley Ann Bethe, June 17, 1952,and then began farming on the family farm in the Talmage area. He and Shirley were members of the Talmage Methodist Church, then the Abilene First United Methodist Church and presently the First United Methodist Church in Bella Vista, Arkansas. Lyle was a charter member of the Talmage Lions Club and later joined the Elks Club in Abilene. Lyle and Shirley moved to Abilene in 1958. In 1965 Lyle became a partner in the Smith Heating and Plumbing business. He continued with them until moving to Bella Vista, Arkansas in 1988. He and Shirley opened their business, Your Choice Realty, in 1992 and Lyle managed the rental property business. They moved to Hutchinson Realty in 2001. Lyle retired in 2005 when he could have more time for his hobbies including woodworking and gardening. Lyle is preceded in death by his parents, Russell and Addie Ayre, and his brother, Wayne Ayre, all of Abilene. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Shirley, son, Cary Ayre of Bella Vista and wife Christine, son, Darvin Ayre of Boulder, Colorado, grandsons, Jeremy Ayre of Bella Vista and Hunter Ayre of Centerton, brother, Glen Ayre and wife Donna of Salina, Kansas, sister-in-law Grace Ayre of Abilene, one nephew and four nieces. Visitation will be held at Danner Funeral Home in Abilene, Kansas on Thursday, August 5th, from 6:00 until 7:00. Funeral services, conducted by Reverend Dick Near of the Abilene First United Methodist Church and Pastor Ron Bowell of Crossroads Church of Salina, will be 10:30 a.m., Friday Morning, August 6th, at the Abilene First United Methodist Church 601 N. Cedar, Abilene. Burial will be in the Abilene Cemetery. Fellowship gathering at the Abilene First United Methodist Church will follow immediately after burial. The family suggests memorial contributions in his name be given to Legacy Village Circle of Life, 900 NE Verdant, Bentonville, Arkansas 72712. Lyle, known to many for his dry sense of humor and his quick wit, will be sadly missed by his family and friends. The family wishes to thank the staff at the Circle of Life for their loving care and kindness during these last weeks.
