William Thomas "Bill" Morris

Mr. William Thomas "Bill" Morris, 92, of Newport died Tuesday, August 24, 2010. He was born October 20, 1917 at Tupelo, the son of Thomas Alfred and Blanche (Oliver) Morris. Mr. Morris was a retired farmer, and a member of the Umsted Memorial United Methodist Church. He was a United States Army veteran, serving in World War II during 1941-1945. Mr. Morris served in Dutch Harbour and Japan. He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Charles A. Morris; and one sister, Helen V. Morris. Mr. Morris is survived by one sister, Emogene Morris of Newport; one sister-in-law, Marcia Morris of Jackson, Tennessee; two nieces; three great-nieces; and two great-great nephews. Memorials may be made to the Umsted Memorial United Methodist Church, 1312 McLain Street, Newport, Ark. 72112. Graveside services will be 11 a.m., Friday at Walnut Grove Cemetery.
