Linda Elizabeth Darling Williams of Crossett was born Nov. 30, 1959 at Fordyce, Ark. and passed away on Dec. 11, 2010 at Stonegate Villa Nursing Center in Crossett, Ark. She was a graduate of Crossett High School and Ouachita Baptist University at Arkadelphia, Ark. She taught special education in Texas and Arkansas before becoming a stay at home mother. She is survived by; her husband, Chaplain (Lieutenant Colonel) Kenneth R. Williams U.S. Army of Arlington, Va.; two daughters, Megan Williams Kingrey and husband Charlton of Branson, Mo. and Bethany Williams of Arlington, Va.; her parents, O. H. "Doogie" and Patsy M. Darling of Crossett, Ark. She was preceded in death by her brother, Edward "Eddie" Darling. Linda was always an active member of a Baptist Church wherever she lived and she loved the Lord and was always ready to tell others about Jesus. Since her husband was a chaplain they moved to various places and they lived in Arkansas, Texas, Georgia, Arizona, and Missouri. She was talented in many ways and could sing, play the piano, and paint in her early years. Wherever she lived, Linda made friends and everyone loved her. Linda went on a mission trip to Romania and loved teaching the youth American songs, playing piano for them, and teaching them scripture. Linda learned about the need for an orphanage in this area for unwanted children. After she returned home to Sierra Vista, Ariz., she contacted a person in London, England and then made arrangements for him to come to speak to 15 schools, churches, organizations and colleges raising funds and telling their story. She was president of "Cry In The Dark USA" for years until she developed health problems. It is still a successful organization. Funeral services will be held on Monday, Dec. 13, 2010 at 2 p.m. at First Baptist Church with Bro. Gary Don Abernathy and Bro. Jamie Stahley officiating. Interment will follow at Pinewood Memorial Park under the direction of Jones Funeral Home of Crossett.
