Thomas Allen Scherer Sr.

Thomas Allen Scherer Sr. of Fayetteville, Ark. was born December 21, 1923 in Tulsa, Okla. to Alphonse Thomas and Marie Louise (Bodine) Scherer. He passed from this life Monday, July 5, 2010 in Fayetteville at the age of 86. Tom graduated from Cascia Hall Preparatory School in Tulsa and attended Notre Dame before joining the US Army during World War II. He joined the infantry in 1943 and following an injury he was transferred to the 979th Signal Corps and joined the Armed Forces Band. Following his discharge, he attended and was graduated from the University of Tulsa. Tom owned and operated ATCO Trucking Co. and Tom Scherer, Inc. until his retirement. Tom had a great love of music and was an accomplished pianist and violinist. Tom is survived by his five children, Rose Marie Scherer Campbell of Kansas, Kathryn Ann Scherer of Fayetteville, Ark., Thomas Allen Scherer Jr. of Tulsa, Okla., Suzanne Denise Scherer of Los Angeles, Calif. and Juliet Rene Scherer of Tulsa, Okla. Also surviving are his six grandchildren, Sean Thomas Campbell, Jessica Marie Campbell, Lewel Rene Scherer McCutcheon, Blaze Alphonsine Scherer, Angeline Rose Scherer and Melissa Jeanette Scherer; and three great-grandchildren, Jordyn, Quinn Thomas, and Aidan Campbell. A funeral mass will be held 2 p.m., Friday at Calvary Cemetery Chapel with entombment to follow in Calvary Cemetery Mausoleum. Ninde Funeral & Cremation, Brookside Chapel, (918) 742-5556.
