Lois Ricks Jackson

Lois Ricks Jackson, 97, went to be with the Lord on July 9, 2010. Born in Prairie County on April 26, 1913, she was the daughter of Tom and Viola Rogers Ricks. Lois graduated from De Valls Bluff High School in 1937. She taught school for eight years before the birth of her daughter. She was an excellent seamstress and cook and always the gentle Southern Lady. She taught Sunday school for many years and was a member of New Bethel Missionary Baptist Church. Lois was preceded in death by her parents; three young siblings; brother, Ellis Ricks; her loving husband of 45 years, Douglas Jackson and a grandson, Todd Jackson Miles. She is survived by her daughter, Mary Lou Miles and her husband, Leon; granddaughter, Jill Cunningham and her husband, Brian, and great-grandsons, Miles, Carson and Jackson Cunningham. The family would like to thank Chambers Nursing and Rehabilitation Center for the kind and loving care given to her. Fuuneral services will be Sunday, July 11, 2010, at 3 p.m. in the Westbrook Funeral Home Chapel in Hazen. Visitation will be at 2 p.m. preceding the service. Interment will be at the Carlisle Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, 200 Commerce Street, Suite 100, Little Rock, Ark. 72201.
