Mattie Louise Ellis

Mattie Louise Ellis, 95 passed away July 20, 2010 at her home in Clarendon, Arkansas. She was a graduate of Clarendon High School and a 60 year member of the Clarendon First United Methodist Church. When her husband was serving overseas during WWII, Mattie worked as a clerk typist for the United States Army. After the war, she and her husband came home to Clarendon and opened L & M Grocery which they operated for 45 years. She was preceded in death by her parents, Will and Willie Martin, husband, Lyle Ellis, Sr., brother, Benny Martin, sisters, Johnnie Embrey, Margaret Chambers and great grandson, Matthew Ryan Ellis. She is survived by; two children, Lyle Ellis Jr. and wife Ruby, Belinda West, brothers Billy Martin and wife Eunice, and Bobby Martin all of Clarendon, three grandchildren, Sara Ford of Clarendon, Chuck Ellis of Sherwood, Scott Ellis of Stuttgart, three great-grandchildren, Dylan Ellis, Izabella Ellis, Addison Ford and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be 2 p.m., Saturday, July 24th at the First United Methodist Church, burial following in the Shady Grove Cemetery, visitation 6-8PM, Friday, July 23rd at the Bob Neal Funeral Home all located in Clarendon. In her honor memorials may be given to First United Methodist Church, 121 N 3rd Street, Clarendon, Ark. 72029 and Shady Grove Cemetery Association 440 Walls Street, Clarendon, Ark. 72029.
